Rhapsody stared at the guitar in her hands, silently cursing herself. C’mon, why can’t you get the chords right! She started the song over again, quietly singing along. Why the guys hired her as rhythm guitarist and backing vocals, she’d never know. She checked the clock on the wall of the warm up room. Five more minutes before she had to meet the guys backstage, then five more before they go on.

Max stared at his guitar with a sort of hatred in his eyes. Why won't you work, stupid guitar. I swear to god if you don't get the chords right, I'll be pissed. He sighed and started the song again, quietly humming along. Why did Brendon even hire him as a guitarist and backing vocals? He'd never know. He glanced at the clock and felt someone's eyes boring into the back of his head, he turned around and saw Brendon staring at him with a sort of twinkle in his eyes. "Why are you staring at me? Is there something on my face?" He asked, Brendon shook his head and kept staring at him as if he wanted Max to continue. Max sighed and went back to playing the song while quietly humming along.

There was a quiet knock on the door, and it slowly opened, Patrick leaning in the room. He smiled at her. “Hey, are you ready, we go on in ten minutes.” Rhapsody took a shaky breath. “Yeah, I guess so…” Patrick leaned against the door, “What are you practicing?” She replied, “Just One Yesterday, I just can’t get the chords right..” He shook his head. “You sound great, trust me, no one will notice. Now c’mon, let’s go! You want to meet Brendon before the show starts too, don’t you?” She smiled like a child offered candy and quickly got up and followed Patrick out to backstage.

"Okay! Time to go meet Fall Out Boy! Let's go people!" Brendon yelled as Max finished playing the song. He sighed and stood up as Brendon headed out to backstage. "Hey! Wait for me!" Max yelled as he ran after Brendon and he started running to the backstage now, Max did the same and caught up after a while. He came to a immediate stop when he almost bumped into Patrick and ended up falling on his butt, he quickly got up while blushing slightly in embarrassment. "Sorry about that.." He muttered.

Rhapsody took a step back, about to yell a warning when two people ran around the corner. The first person, Brendon, stopped at the corner, while the second, kept running and just about crashed into Patrick. After falling and getting back up, Patrick responded to him, “Hey, don’t worry about it.” Patrick then beckoned Brendon and the other Fall Out Boy memebers closer. “Brendon, this is our newest member, Rhapsody. She’s our rhythm guitarist and backing vocals.” Rhapsody blushes and stepped forward. “H-hi.. I also go by Rose, if you don’t want to say my mouthful of a name… It’s great to meet you! I love your band…” She blushes harder and held out her hand for a handshake.

Max quickly went behind Brendon, still blushing a lot. "Okay then, Meet Maximus, he goes my Max but if you want to get his attention use Maximus." Brendon said, signalling towards Max who was slightly blushing now. Brendon smiled brightly at Rose and shook her hand. "That's nice to know!"

She smiled widely and took her hand back. The fall out guys gave a chorus of welcomes and hi’s to Max. Taking a few steps back as Patrick, Pete, and Brendon started talking, she met Max’s eyes. Looking over him for a second, she smiled lightly and waved timidly. It looked like maybe she had found someone who was just as awkward as her.

Max leaned against the wall as he watched Patrick, Pete, and Brendon talk. He kept glancing at Rose every so often. She looks…….cute? But she doesn't like me, does she? He thought, smiling back and waving back awkwardly.

After Max waved back, she awkwardly looked away. Originally she was going to try to make conversation, but now she felt really out of place. Her face stayed hot as her thoughts swarmed in her head. “Oh my lord he’s cute,” was the main phrase. She stared down at her skirt, tangling her hands in the black fabric then smoothing it back out, trying to get rid of her rising anxiety.

Max quickly looked away as he felt his heat up and saw Brendon glance at both of them with a mischievous smirk on his face. I swear to god if he does anything, I'm going to be so pissed. He thought as he watched everyone talk to each other.

Turning her attention back to the conversation going on, she noticed Pete stop talking for a second, eye her, then glance at Max, before whispering something to Patrick. Patrick glared at him for a minute, before continueing to talk. “Shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot, he knows…” she panicked. Rose tried to make herself seem as normal as possible now to throw off his trail, and picked up her guitar, making sure it was fully tuned.

Max glancing at Patrick and Pete and saw them glance at both of them. Great. I'm just gonna go crawl into a hole and never come out now. He thought as he went on his phone to look around for other jobs.

“Just keep playing the guitar and they won’t notice or say anything, it’s all gonna be fine,” she lied to herself. Now that her guitar was in tune, she started to play the part of the song she couldn’t get right. She blocked out everyone and focused, without realizing it, started to quietly sing along as well.

Max glanced at Rose when he heard her singing and smiled slightly, quietly humming along to the song. Even her singing is good, why is everything about her perfect?

Finally, she finished the song. She didn’t screw up. “Did you guys hear that… I can do it now!!” She exclaimed, still staying quite quiet. She was filled with overwhelming pride, and couldn’t help smiling to herself. Besides, how perfect was it that the first time she managed to play it correctly was in front of her new crush. Rose brushed some of the hair back from her face, still beaming.

Max's heart melted a bit when he saw her smile and he managed to tear his eyes away from her and at Brendon. Damn it, stop it, stupid brain. She doesn't like you, okay? get that through your head.

After a few more minutes, Pete loudly broke from the conversation and said, “Okay guys, we go on stage in two minutes, you all know what’s gonna happen?” He mostly looked at Rose while he asked. She nodded back. “Alright, good.” Everyone started to get ready to go on stage. She awkwardly followed them like a lost puppy dog. Anxiety gripping at her, she closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths. This would be fine. It would all be fine.
