"Ah, alright then. You could also work at a brewery…" Liam shrugged, "But, it's your life not mine."
"Ah, alright then. You could also work at a brewery…" Liam shrugged, "But, it's your life not mine."
Zackary hummed softly. "I might just drop it and retire… I had enough money to do so for a while."
"That sounds like a good plan. If you can do it, I say go for it, makes life a lot easier." Liam leaned back in his seat.
Zackary sighed. "I dunno, I think my life'd get really uneventful, not to mention lonely…" He shrugged. "Enough about me, I'm just… old… not worth talking about, and that's that. How about you?"
"I'm just as boring. I work most days so I barely have a social life, kinda. But," Liam shrugged a shoulder, "Work's pretty much my life at this point so I'm boring myself."
Zackary yawned and stretched out. "So you wanna turn to a life of sleep, loneliness, and cats?" He laughed, though it was empty and shallow.
Liam rolled his eyes and ran his finger round the edge of his cup, "I don't have time for a social life. Apart from the occasional drink I'm working. So yes, cats and loneliness is probably what's going to happen."
Zackary sighed gently and relaxed his posture into a more slumped one. "Cats and loneliness…" He leaned a hand on his face.
"Yup, I told you my life was boring." Liam said, chuckling slightly.
Zackary chuckled meekly too. "We're just about on the same boat, then." He sighed heavily.
"Ah, it looks like it." Liam replied, right before the food was delivered to their table.
Zackary straightened up as the waiter approached and lifted up the menu to make sure he knew what he wanted. He ordered a rare steak then handed over the menu.
Liam ordered a medium rare cheeseburger, handed the waiter the menu and thanked him for the chips before he headed off.
Zackary slumped back down into the seat, suddenly feeling groggy and tired. He wanted to go home, sleep… maybe eat something. Wait, I'm at a restaurant… hey… is this a date or… Zackary shook his groggy thoughts out of his head. Alcohol always made him tired.
"You alright?" Liam asked, frowning slightly as he looked at Zackary before popping a few chips into his mouth.
Zackary yawned widely again before speaking. "Ugh, no bourbon always puts me to sleep. I totally forgot I haven't drunk any in forever…"
Liam chuckled, "Ah, well anytime you feel you need to leave I'm not stopping you."
Zackary straightened up a little more. "I'm not leaving. You had the decency to ask this old man out, therefore I'm going to get my money's worth." He grinned at Liam.
Liam smiled back, "Alright, whatever you say." He said before putting a couple more chips in his mouth.
Why the hell am I even staying with this guy? Zackary asked himself as he reached for a chip of his own.
Liam pushed the bowl slightly closer to Zackary so it was in better reach for him before taking another for himself.
Zackary thanked Liam unnesessarily and popped the chip into his mouth. He thoughtfully chewed, staring at his fork.
"Thoughts on the chips?" Liam asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Mmm? Oh, they’re great.” Zackary glanced up at Liam with a grin.
Liam smiled back, "I'm glad you think so."
