Isobel stayed silent for a full twenty seconds before whispering a response. “Alice? I’d like to be alone.”
Isobel stayed silent for a full twenty seconds before whispering a response. “Alice? I’d like to be alone.”
Alice nodded vigorously. "Of course!" She started to back away into the hallway, head down.
Isobel relaxed as soon as Alice was gone, her head spinning. She’d fallen back into numbness, and although her thoughts were whirling, she didn’t particularly care or register them. She just wanted it all to stop. There was too much going on.
Alice listened to the sound of her breathing, trying hard to clear her head. It was a complete less— she didn't know what to think or do, but didn't want to leave Isobel in a state. She knew from first-hand experience it was an absolutely terrible idea.
After what seemed like hours but was only a few minutes, Isobel finally drifted off. She dreamed of screams and gunfire and blood in the night, of three tiny coffins and one large one.
She dreamed of death.
(aaaw I feel so bad)
(should she fall asleep there?)
(Alice? yeah, sure)
(mkay)
Suddenly exhausted, Alice wandered the apartment for a while. She finally found a carpeted room as lay down on the floor. In minutes, she was sleeping.
Skip? To morning?
Yeah.
I'm really sorry if this is getting dull I can't think of a way to drama-ify it. If you've got any ideas you're more than welcome.
It’s no problem, you don’t have to apologize for anything
Uhh maybe Alice follows Isobel up to Montreal for the funeral? Without her knowing? Or maybe the guy that got Alice pregnant makes an actual appearance?
…or both…if he lives in Montreal…
😂 That's a bit much maybe but they're great ideas..
Lolll
Sorry
No don't be! Do you have any backstory on the stepmother? Cause maybe she could have been one of the asylum staff, and then it would have the same effect as Ollie being there.
ohhhhhhhhhhh that's an awesome idea! It works, because she's a nurse (and a bitch but other than that)
Yeyyyysss perfect
I've gotta go but we'll do this tmr :)
kk :D
Alice woke with a jolt. She blinked blearily, trying to make out where she was. It then all came flooding back: Isobel's passiveness, her breakdown, the letters…
She sat up, rubbing her sore back, and walked out into the hallway.
(bump)
(sorry, it's been a busy weekend so far, I don't know how often I'll be on today, and I had 24 unread threads when I got on)
(how are you?)
Isobel woke with a start, cheeks drenched with tears. She hastily wiped them off, swallowing and rubbing her eyes to wake herself of. Taking deep gulps of the cool air, she swung her legs over the side of the couch and tried to get up.
(Don't worry about it! Just don't want it to die I like this one :)
(I'm actually really good! I just got back fromna singing lesson and yesterday we bought three raffle tickets at a ridiculously fancy christmas market and won two prizes including the best one. How about you? )
Alice heard rustling in the living room. She went still– should she still be here? What was Isobel going to say? Unsure, she didn't move from her spot and watched the living room doorway, waiting for Isobel to come out.
(same here, it's so funn
oh wow that's great! hope the happy feeling lasts :)
Barely remembering the events of yesterday, Isobel blinked blearily and made for the kitchen, attempting to hum a happy song as she put the kettle to boil. The song quickly turned melancholy, reminfing her painfully of her dad, so she cut herself off abruptly.
(How're you?)
Alice watched Isobel walk into the kitchen without seeing her, humming to herself. She crept up towards the kitchen, holding her breath, and looked around the doorway.
Isobel had gone quiet and was putting the kettle to boil.
