“There are different styles of houses?” Luciana asked incredulously.
(… did I use that right…)

(Yep)
"Yeah there's multilevel and there's ranch style and then there's the time period stuff I'm not an expert."
"But you know who is?" She put her hands on her hips. "Someone who is not me."
“I’ll pretend I understood that.”
Ellis laughed. "Lordy you two are idiots."
(Alex would kill anyone who called her any of those. Except maybe switch.)
I already know that. Willow blinked and nodded. "Yeah, I am. But idiots are the ones that get the grapefruit last, aren't they?"
"Pardon?" Ellis chuckled as he pushed the door to the attic open.
Colton sat down and watched the others.
"You don't understand? Interesting." Willow smiled and turned towards Colton. "Hey, Colty-Bolty, feeling left out? I'm sure Switchy would love to converse with you."
Ellis set the box down and looked around. "Hey! A dumbwaiter!"
Alex raised an eyebrow, they said sceptically, "Switchy? I kind of like it."

"What did you just call me?" A small smile on his face.
"Colty-Bolty. Your nickname." She ruffled his hair and grinned, glancing at Alex.
"My name opens itself up for a nickname, you don't have to do that," He patted and smoothed his hair.
"The Colt." Ellis mumbled. "You lost the Colt?!"
Alex shrugged, "So Chuckles, Colty-Bolty, Switchy, and what's Lu's again?"
"Lucy and Ellie." Willow bowed, flowers falling from her curly hair. "Yes, I know they're all beautiful."
Ellis rolled his eyes. "Guys come check out our dumbwaiter!"
“Whatever you do, don’t get in the dumbwaiter.”
Alex looked to the dumbwaiter, "I'm gonna get in it."
Colton continued to observe, he was always a spectator.
(I'm rereading Red Queen Blue Kingdom)
(I miss it)
"Waiters can be dumb at times." Willow observed, dropping down onto the floor.
Ellis squinted. "Hey…it looks like it goes higher than this floor…."
