“My mom will probably be home in a bit, Dad’s in Pennsylvania on some work trip, my sister won’t be home for another hour.” Phoebe entered the house, slipping off her shoes at the door.
“My mom will probably be home in a bit, Dad’s in Pennsylvania on some work trip, my sister won’t be home for another hour.” Phoebe entered the house, slipping off her shoes at the door.
Elide nodded and followed her inside, also slipping off her shoes and leaving them next to Phoebe’s, “You sure this is okay?”
“Yeah, my mom’s chill about spontaneous sleepovers. She even lets me have Josh sleep over, and he’s a guy. As long as you tell your mom.” Phoebe led the way down a hallway to her room, opening the door.
“Yeah, I’ll um… text her later. She’s working late and won’t see it till the morning but she’ll be fine with it.” Slide rubbed at her arm a little as she entered Phoebe’s room.
Phoebe nodded. “Sure. Uh, welcome to my room.”
The room was slightly on the small side, facing the street, pleasantly lit by the sunlight streaming in through a large window on the wall opposite to the door (facing the street). The walls were white, and the floor was made out of some sort of square grey tiles, probably slate. It was neat enough, with walls covered completely in musical posters and artwork.
"Nice room you have," Elide said, admiring the posters and the artwork, "Better then mine." She flopped down onto the bed with a smile towards Phoebe.
Phoebe shrugged, smiling. “Thanks.” She sat down on the bed next to Elide. “What d you want to do?”
Elide shrugged, "Are American sleepovers different from English ones?" She giggled a little.
"What are English ones like?" Phoebe pulled her legs up into a cross-legged position, curious.
Elide shrugged, “Lots of tea, crime shows and unnessessary karaoke to musicals like Greece, Mumamia and so on.”
"I'm not sure about the tea part, but the rest is pretty accurate. We'll binge-watch shows a lot, and if it's not a school night we're up until two in the morning at the very earliest. Also hair and face masks sometimes."
“Sounds about the same then. One time Katie and I had a bet to see who could solve a midsummer murders episode before it finished and the loser had to build a snowman in their underwear. Katie was actually blue afterwards.”
"Oh my god." Phoebe spluttered with laughter. "That's priceless!"
Elide giggled and nodded, “I caught it all on video and it played at the end of year celebration. Best thing that happened all year.”
Phoebe couldn't stop laughing. "Never- never do that to me–" she got out between giggles.
Elide grinned at her, “Hm… who knows what will happen.”
Phoebe leaned forward to shove her lightly. "Hey!"
Elide shoved her back, “What?”
"No underwear-snowmen!" she insisted, shoving lightly at Elaine again with laughter in her eyes.
“Then I’ll just have to think of something worse then that.” Elide replied, still grinning.
"Don't you dare," she warned jokingly, flopping onto her back with a grin.
Elide giggled and rolled onto her stomach, “You can’t stop me.”
Phoebe raised a finger to her lips. "Shh, let me pretend…"
Elide rested her head in her hand with a smile, “Yes, Ma’am. But you can’t escape your fate.”
"You're going to make me quote Disney, Elide, you're on thin ice," Phoebe teased, craning her head to look up at her.
