Phoebe waited for her to return, humming to herself. She put away her sketchbook, smiling.
Phoebe waited for her to return, humming to herself. She put away her sketchbook, smiling.
Elide sighed through her nose and sat back down at the table, "Where's Jane?"
"Stayed home sick," she replied with air quotations. "That's code for snuck in to check on Josh."
Elide nodded, "Oh, right, okay."
"She hasn't texted me yet, but she will soon.." Phoebe trailed off, glancing up at the clock. "Lunch is almost over. Sad."
Elide groaned and rested her head on the table, "I don't want lunch to be over…"
"Me neither.." Phoebe let out a small groan of her own. "But.." she lowered her voice, leaning close to Elide's ear. "Me and Jane were thinking… to get Josh out of his house.. maybe a double date? Tonight? Jane is asking him right now."
Elide blushed and turned her head to the side before nodding, "O-Okay, sounds like a plan."
"Awesome." Phoebe grinned, already excited. "Do you like Thai food?"
Elide nodded again, smiling, "Yup!"
"Great, there's this Thai place, it's sort of our go-to," she explained, feeling a fluttering in her stomach at the sight of Elide's smile.
"Alrighty, I can't wait." Elide's smile grew a fraction with her excitement.
(skip?)
(Sure)
Phoebe leaned over to adjust Jane's necklace, giving her a pointed look and glancing at Josh. She rang the doorbell to Elide's house, heart fluttering in anticipation..
Elide hummed softly as she grabbed her purse and headed for the door. She flicked a strand of hair over her shoulder as she opened the door and smiled, "Hey guys!"
Phoebe's words died in her mouth at the sight of how gorgeous Elide looked. "H-Hey, Elide. Um, hi. Hello." Even Josh, who was still far from 100% couldn't help a smirk.
Elide giggled, "Hey Phoebe," She pressed a quick kiss to her cheek before taking her hand in her own, "Shall we get going?"
Phoebe went beet red, but she managed to stutter out a "Yes." Jane grinned, tentatively copying Elide's action and taking hold of Josh's hand, which caused him to blush as well. "Hey, Elide. Yeah, it's this way."
"Great," Elide gave Jane a smile before she followed, "This place must be good if it's your regular go to place."
All three of them nodded in unison. “It’s amazing!”
Elide laughed, "Clearly."
A few minutes later, they had boarded the subway, an unasked question in all their minds: How were Josh’s parents?
Elide bit her lip, looking down to the floor of the subway during the slightly awkward silence. She wanted to speak up but didn't know what to say.
Eventually, Josh cleared his throat. “So, hows your relationship going?” he asked Phoebe and Elide.
