“I don’t know…” she admitted. “You looked upset; I’m sorry.” She turned around to leave, feeling oddly like she might cry.

He sighed, feeling ultimately responsible for the shakiness in her voice. He walked up to her, stadning behind her only a few inches away. "Fern. I'm sorry."

She turned, unshed tears pricking her eyes. “It-it’s Fine,” She stammered, glancing back at him. It wasn’t fine, and it was fairly obvious.

"No, it's not." He rubbed his face a little, avoiding any eye contact with her. "Look, I'm a jerk. And I messed up. A lot. And I'm sorry. Just- that's all I can say." He turned around and began to walk away. There was a lot that she could choose to forgive or not.

“Wait,” she called after him, not even sure why she was still trying to talk to him. “Don’t go.” She was facing him now, feeling helpless. She didn’t know why she wanted him to stay, but she did.

He stopped, not daring to turn around should he break. "Why?" His voice was firm, but he felt like everything was going to fall over.

“Because I don’t want you to leave,” Fern said, feeling dumb. Of course he’s going to leave you, stupid. “I want to stay here with you. Please don’t shut me out again. I hate pretending not to like you when all I want to do is be with you.” She blushed. She really hoped that he wouldn’t just leave her vulnerable like this.

He couldn't feel anything. Everything was numb. "Why? I've treated you less than you've deserved!" He turned around and walked up to her, only a little space between them. His voice was quiet and subtle. "Why would you want me?"

“Because you’re sweet and thoughtful and kind, even though you try so hard to hide it,” Fern replied, looking into his eyes. “You make the most beautiful music. You may have everyone fooled, but not me.”

Zavian wasn't sure what happened. One moment he was standing looking into her eyes, the next, his hand was on her cheek and his lips were on hers. What are you doing?!

For a moment, Fern was so shocked she didn’t know what to do, but pretty soon she was kissing him back. Never would she had thought she’d end up kissing Zavian, but she hadn’t really known him until recently.

Zavian placed one hand gently on her waist and kept the other on her cheek. He kissed for a moment longer than he should have. His lips gingerly sauntered over hers, leaving nothing but hunger for more. He pulls back, staring into her eyes, a broken look in his own eyes.

Fern looked into his eyes, her lips slightly parted. An electricity was racing through her body. “Wow,” she whispered. She smiled at him.

He bit his lip smiling, tye hunger becoming overwhelming. He presses his lips to hers once more, this time more passionate. He pulls her closer gently, both hands on her waist.

Her hands were in his hair, running her fingers through it. She moved her lips against his, her eyes closed. I’m kissing Zavian. Oh my gosh I’m kissing Zavian.

Everything seemed to intensify. There was no space between them, Zavian didn't allow it. Every part of him ached to be near her where he could be him. He began to carefully walk forward until she was pressed against a tree in front of him. He pulled apart for a split second, chest aching for air he desperately wanted not to give, and placed his forehead on hers. "What are we doing?" His voice was soft and warm, yet fragile. There was a smile on his face, happiness having finally found him after so long.

When she saw him smile, her own face lit up with a rush of happiness. “I don’t know,” she replied, taking a deep breath. “It just feels right.” She smiled again, shyly.

"Does it?" He smiled a little more before he kissed her again. "What ever happened to us hating each other?" He kissed her jawline and slowly began to make his way down her neck, the world just melting away.

Fern closed her eyes, her skin tingling wherever he touched her. She laughed softly. “That feels like such a long time ago,” she mused, her hands shifting from his hair to his neck.

He slowly and carefully made his way back up her neck and onto her lips. "I wish we hadn't ever." His hands shifted slightly on her hips. He kissed her once more before pulling away and staring into her eyes.

“Me too,” she agreed, gazing into his eyes as well. She smiled again, the glow of joy lighting up her face. There was nothing in the world but her and Zavian. “But at least we don’t anymore,” she added, ever the optimist.

He chuckled lightly. "Yeah…" He kissed her a few more times, down her neck and up. "What now?" He asked between kisses.

She hadn’t even thought about it. All Fern had thought since following Zavian was about here and now. She realized she had no idea what to do next. “I don’t know,” she whispered. “I want to be with you.” Her cheeks flushed at this, despite the fact that she was still in his arms.

He continued to kiss her. Her lips were soft and warm. If he had his way, this wouldn't stop. "Do you really?" Yeah was Zavian, the one who pushed her against a wall. The one who pulled the fire alarm. The Jerk of the school.

“Yes,” She said simply, seriously, before kissing him again. She hoped he would believe her, because in spite of everything, she was sincere. He had done some stupid things, but she’d seen the real him and she knew that he could be better.
