"Her name is Mara. She came here with some strange dragon called Riven. I've never seen one like him before," Aurelius explained.
"Her name is Mara. She came here with some strange dragon called Riven. I've never seen one like him before," Aurelius explained.
"What kind of dragon is he?" She asked
"That's just it. I don't know what kind of dragon he is, and I'm quite the expert on them. He looks kind of drake-like, if you were to ask me, but I don't know much about him yet," he replied, "I would love to do more research though, should they permit. It's been a good while since I've been able to directly work with dragons besides Nox."
"Speaking of dragons, I found one today while I was gather herbs. She says she is and ice Dragon and her name is Isolde." She gestured to the blue and white dragon walking beside her
Aurelius felt a smile come to his face. He was always thrilled to meet new dragons.
"She's beautiful," he said.
Nox muttered something under her breath.
"Almost as beautiful as Nox."
"Child, you most certainly did not save that."
"Sure I did!" Aurelius laughed.
Robin laughed and looked at Aurelius "she can change her size as well. Have you ever seen a dragon who was able to do that?" She asked curiously. From what I know, only those in my bloodline were able to do it. I dont know any family, perhaps he could help find mine?' Isolde wondered
"Never seen, only read about," Aurelius replied, "There are many, many rarities out there, and I've barely been out to see the world yet."
"I have dreamed of seeing the world someday, perhaps I can, now that I have Isolde." She smiled
"Heh. Me too. I've had Nox with me since I was born, and yet I still haven't been many places of note," Aurelius said.
"Where would you go?" She asked curiously
"North. There are many fascinating and different dragons up there, and beautiful kingdoms and villages," he answered, "At least from what I've heard."
"That sounds nice. I'd like to visit the south first before going elsewhere." She smiled wistfully "I wonder if I can find any family of my own."
"Well, even if you can't find your blood relatives," Aurelius said, "You can still find family. Anyone can. And the best part? You get to choose it for yourself."
Quincy looked at James, "How's the family? Ryder? Clinton?"
James laughed, "No idea. I haven't spoken to them in years. Something else came up."
Quincy looked past James and finally caught sight of an unfamiliar dragon, "You got a dragon?!"
Her brother turned sheepish and grinned, "I guess it runs in the family or something. But yeah."
"That's how you found this place!" Quincy exclaimed putting the pieces together, "You're one of us so no one bats an eye."
"Yeah," James admitted, "And your friend Aurelius helped me figure out which house is yours."
Aurelius heard his name and turned his head back to the two siblings, not sure if he'd just come up in a conversation, or if he was being addressed.
Quincy looked over at Aurelius, "Yeah. He's nice like that."
James nodded, "Thank you by the way."
Aurelius felt a little heat rise to his face when he heard the compliment.
"Oh, it's no problem. My mum always taught me that hospitality and kindness are some of the most important things we can practice as human beings, and I'd have to agree. We don't actively try to close everyone out. Just those who pose a threat."
"I pose no threat know that," James said to that. While Quincy muttered under her breath, "Unlike the other two."
Aurelius nodded, feeling a slight chill go down his spine. He shivered.
"As long as no one followed you here," he whispered.
"No one did," James confirmed, "At least none that I spotted."
Aurelius nodded. "Okay, good to know. But we patrol often enough, I'm sure we can cut off any potential threat before anything bad happens."
"That's good," James nodded as he looked around, "I haven't come across a village as organized as you guys are."
"That's how we stay safe," Aurelius replied, "and also how we keep everyone taken care of. It's not perfect, but it's pretty close. You know, except for the occasional strict ruling that's completely unnecessary."
"You've been on the end of a strict ruling?" James guessed.
"Heh. Yeah. I'm basically confined to the village until further notice," Aurelius explained, "Seems unfair, and I've tried to argue it, but at the end of the day, it's our government trying to cover its own ass by shoving blame on me for something that wasn't really anyone's fault."
