Valkyrie nodded as she was sharpening her newly-forged blade.
"That I can do. Hand it over, if you would?"
She placed down her own blade.

Aurelius looked Mara up and down.
"I think it suits you," he said, "Will it be enough to keep you hidden though?"

@Fantasy-Illy!

"It should keep me hidden for a while at least." For how long though? Mara wasn't sure. "Thank you. If you could show me around a bit more, I would like that." She smiled and stood, thanking the girl who did her hair.

@Fantasy-Illy!

"You have elders here?" It was just like her village, old, crabby, senile person who made stupid rules. "I guess." If they were anything like hers then she wasn't sure how well she would do here. Walking to the door she decided to get on Riven's back. "Well, let's go."

@Becfromthedead group

"It's mostly for record-keeping purposes," he promised, "They should take to you alright, hopefully. Plus they can help you find housing and work, should you choose to stay."
He was nervous, though, because he knew they didn't exactly love him.
Aurelius got on Nox's back and led the way to one of the more ornate structures in the city- a marble hall with intricate friezes and columns on the exterior. He got down, opened the door, and Nox followed him inside. A guard- a woman a couple of years older than himself- waved to him.
"Septima, we've got new company," he said, gesturing back towards Mara and Riven.
She peered back towards where Mara and Riven were and waited for their approach.

@Fantasy-Illy!

Mara hopped off Roven and slightly waved to the girl. Then followed behind Aurelius. Unsure of what was about to happen, Mara made herself presentable. Straightening her hair with her hands and wiping her clothes off. "Maybe I should change first?" Aurelius clothes might not be the best thing to wear in front of the elders.

@Becfromthedead group

"Honestly, it doesn't matter. It's not a formal ceremony or anything. Hell, occasionally we have guards come in in tattered clothes, covered in blood to give reports. No one gives a shit," Septima called from where she'd leaned back against one of the pillars, twirling her spear, "I've seen plenty worse. I've gone in there worse."
Aurelius nodded. "Unless it really bothers you, we can go on in."

"Alright, I've got it," Valkyrie replied, taking both blades.
She set down the sword and started by sharpening the knife, then handed it back to Robin. After that, she began working on the sword.

@Fantasy-Illy!

"I mean if it doesn't matter." Mara waited by the door. She thought it may be a bit too rude if she was the one to open the door. Her heart pounded as she waited, there was just something about old people she didn't like much.

@StarkSpangledMayflower_Mad_Elder

"Why thank you." She said, taking the knife back and putting it in her basket. She waited for her sword to finish as well. Sighing, she looked at her basket at the simple products she had brought to sell. It wasnt much considering her stock had been shrinking steadily.

Aurelius looked to Mara and led the way. He opened the door for her, and Nox was the one to enter the room first: a chamber with high ceilings and a long U-shaped table. Nine people, all old as the hills, sat evenly along the side of the table closest to the wall.

"No problem," Valkyrie replied, finishing up the sword.
She began to hand it back. She was going to ask for payment, but saw the few contents of Robin's basket. Are those all her wares?
Valkyrie had only sharpened the tools, so she was going to let that slide, although she wouldn't turn down a coin or two if offered.

@Fantasy-Illy!

As the doors opened and Mara saw all the elders sitting down, her heart dropped. Stepping in made it worse, her stomach twisted and she felt sick, but kept her composure. Looking to Aurelius, she searched his eyes for what she was supposed to say.

@Becfromthedead group

"I've got this," he reassured her, a firm and confident air to his voice.
"So, someone new has come to town," Aurelius explained, taking the middle of the floor, "Her name is Mara, and this dragon she has with her is Riven."
One of the Elders nodded in understanding. "As long as this isn't like last time you brought someone in- What? I kid, I kid! You haven't left the village since."
"Yeah, I know that…" Aurelius grumbled, a certain tenseness about him, "Anyway, why don't you explain to her what's going to happen, should she choose to move here?"
The old woman went through a quick explanation, telling Mara about the essentially free housing, the working requirement, and also that she was free to leave should she not like it here. However, she should let the council know before leaving.

@StarkSpangledMayflower_Mad_Elder

Robin smiled and took out a small purse, hidden within her cloak "how much would your services be?" She asked

@Fantasy-Illy!

"Are there any empty houses? It seems a lot of people live here." Mara had been playing with her fingers out of nervousness. "Oh, and my I be a teacher? I know I don't look like much, but I'm pretty smart, not to boost or anything." Mara wanted to seem like a nice person in front of them so they would accept her, not that she wasn't nice, but she knew she could be a bit, well, weird.

@Becfromthedead group

"Just some spare change will do it," Valkyrie replied, "All I did was sharpen your weapons."

"We always make sure there's at least some housing available. There should be a few vacant homes towards the mountain side of town," another one of the elders replied, "And we would be happy to have you as a teacher here, but of course you'll need a little training so you know what all you have to teach. Let us know if you have more questions, or if you need anything, and we'll be happy to help."
The first elder pulled out a piece of parchment and placed it on the table in front of her. "But before you go, why don't you pick out a house, and we'll give you the keys? Aurelius here can take care of giving you a tour and all of that."

@Fantasy-Illy!

Scanning the pictures it didn't take long for her to pick one. It was small, like most the houses here, but it had a big yard. In the back was a fenced of area she could use for farming and a cute well next to the fence. But what really caught her eyes was the background, beautiful mountains and flowers everywhere. It was almost like it was out of a dream. "This one." She quickly picked up the picture as if someone was about to take it. "And I'll do training, all I want is to teach."

@StarkSpangledMayflower_Mad_Elder

Robin smiled and took out a few gold pieces and a small jar "here, this jat helps heals burns within two days, I assume that working the forge will sometimes lead to accidents." She said and handed them over

@Becfromthedead group

The elder reached into a compartment in the side of the table, and the jangling of keys could be heard. She slid a key across the table and over to Mara.
"Here you are, then. We will let someone know to start you training. Just be ready, alright, dear?"

"Oh, why thank you," Valkyrie said, happily taking the jar and gold pieces, and placing them in her apron's pocket.
