Oliver grinned directly at Cade, then tugged out his wallet. “How much?”
Oliver grinned directly at Cade, then tugged out his wallet. “How much?”
Cade scanned the books, looked at the price, and sighed. It came out as $115. Hardcover books were expensive. He quickly tapped in a few keys to lower the price. "It looks like you qualify for a discount, so, $65," he said, smiling.
Oliver cocked an eyebrow. “How… how do I qualify?” Apparently he was the suspicious type.
Cade shrugged. "That's just what it says. I don't really know how it works."
Oliver glared suspiciously at Cade. “Is there any way you could check?”
He arched a brow. "I mean, I could if you want me to, but why?" He trembled a little bit as he spoke. Just let me take the price down a little, I'm trying to be nice… he thought.
Oliver shifted his weight on the other foot. “I’m just checking…” He pulled a card out of his wallet and handed it to Cade to pay.
"Okay…" he said, feeling a little guilty as he took his card and swiped it. The payment went through. "Looks like you're all set," he said, grinning at him. "Have a nice day."
Oliver nodded and grinned back as he took his card back. “You too.” He pulled the books towards himself amd lifted them up with difficulty, considering his small person.
(wait hold the fuck up I never put my character template thing in this how am I just realizing this now)
(dude i don’t care at all xD)
(lmao okay)
"Do you need help with that?" he asked, leaning over the counter a bit.
Oliver glanced at Cade. “If you have any bags, they’d be appreciated.”
"I-uh…" shit, I forgot to order more plastic backs, shit shit shit…. "I don't, sorry. But I could help you carry them?"
Oliver shrugged. “I could just pull my car up. I’m not in a rush.”
Of course, this was spawned from how he treated Cade earlier, having realized what he did was purely generosity.
"Okay, have a nice day," he said, making a mental note to order more bags online tonight.
Oliver tilted his head and glanced around. “Isn’t it boring here, without anyone to talk to?”
Cade looked up at him again. "Huh? Oh, I guess. Sometimes the peace and quiet is nice, but it can get pretty lonely here…"
Oliver set the books down and studied Cade thoughtfully. “Like I said, I’m not in a rush. What’s your name?”
"It's Cade. Cade Waters," he said, looking down and smiling a bit. "I actually own this place."
Oliver hummed. “Nice place. I love the style. And the music,” He added thoughtfully, with a nod.
"Thank you. I had a little bit of help with the style, but the music choice is all me." Cade couldn't help but feel a little proud of himself at that moment. Nobody has ever outright said that they liked his store.
Oliver beamed as he gazed around. “Where’d you get all the books from? They’re all classics, must be worth a fortune!”
Cade scratched at the back of his neck. This whole store was his personal collection of books, all of them aquired over 240 years, but he didn't want to say that to somebody who might've been a human. "I… Collected some, took loans out to buy others."
Oliver hummed gently. “Cool. Must’ve been fun, huh?” He looked back at Cade.
