“Well,” Hunter said slowly, “We need to find Chaos. And see if Order is strong enough to fight him.”
“Well,” Hunter said slowly, “We need to find Chaos. And see if Order is strong enough to fight him.”
"No I mean what are you going to do?" Kye looked at her. "Take a moment and think about what you want to do. The world isn't ending in the next two hours. Take a moment for you."
She looked blankly at him. “I have no idea. I’ve never been able to have time to myself, so I’d be clueless.”
"Think about it for a bit then get back to me on it," Kye stood up and offered his hand to her. "In the mean time. I think what you said about finding Chaos is a great idea. I'd like to punch him in the teeth for ruining my trip to see my friends."
Hunter laughed and excepted his hand, letting him help her up. She seemed to be a lot happier now. “And I would like to tear his limbs from his body and slice them into tiny pieces before roasting every nerve in his body and then grinding him into powder and throwing him into the ocean.”
"Mind if I help?" Kye laughed. He started walking forward again and realized he was still holding Hunter's hand. He quickly let go knowing she didn't really seem to like when he touched her.
She didn’t seem to notice. “If you can,” she said with a small laugh. “I might let you hold one of his severed limbs, if you’re good.”
"I could always just trap him in a force field," Kye suggested. "They're virtually impossible to break using anything but shear strength enough to split the moon in half four times over. And any magic used on them will only make them even harder to break. Then I could throw him into space."
Hunter shrugged. “That could work.” Then she frowned. “But I thought you had no magic.”
"I technically don't," Kye replied. He rubbed his neck in slight discomfort. "I have a demon technically residing in me. If I die he dies, and in exchange for a place to reside he gave me the power to protect myself."
“That sounds fun,” she said. “I bet it’s great having a voice in your head. I did for a small period of time, and I hated it.”
"Eh, I learned to live with it after about fifteen years." Kye shrugged as they continued up the hall. He was leading her back towards the place they had left Order. The song slowly faded and soon they were left in the dark. Kye lit his torch so they could see.
"Fifteen years?" She stared at him. "You know, I almost feel bad for you."
"I got use to him after fifteen years, that doesn't mean that's how long he's been here. He's been living in me for about forty eight years now. He usually doesn't talk, and when he does it's just to tell me something I already know, or to just talk with me. He's not all that bad… most of the time," he gave a short laugh. What do you mean most of the time?
You heard me and I'm not taking it back.
How extraordinarily rude. I'll have you know that I could kill you in this very moment.
And what would happen to you then?
Point taken.
"Forty years? How old are you?"
He looked at her from the corner of his eye. "I'm not sure you would believe me if I told you."
"Try me," she said.
"Eight hundred seventy two," he glanced at her again.
Hunter gave a snort that sounded a bit like a laugh. "Huh. Not as old as I would have thought."
"Yeah, technically for my people race I would be known as a teenager," he laughed.
"Seriously?" Hunter didn't seem to believe that, but shrugged. "And I'm only 140."
"I'm treated like that by everyone, that is," he kind of gave a sad sigh. "When they aren't treating me like I'm a monster."
“Know how that feels,” Hunter muttered. Then, she grinned. “But now I can call you grandpa!”
"I'm not that old!" he complained with a grin on his face.
“You’re older then me,” she said with a cheeky grin.
