Rafael wanted to tell Francis to take care of Arien, to make sure he’d be okay and he wouldn’t do anything rash. But then the spell took hold of him again, and those thoughts left his mind as if they’d never been there in the first place. He walked away.
Arien was curled up in bed- Rafael's old one. He was sobbing, clutching the pillow close to himself. What- what had happened? Why did Rafael hate him so much now..? He was shaking with the force of his sobs, quite ready to do something rash. He really want worth it, was he? He was just a- a monster, he didn't deserve sometime like love.
Rafael made it back to his apartment without much trouble but he didn’t really care. He didn’t feel proud of himself he just felt…empty. This wasn’t right. Had this really been what he wanted?
Arien cried for hours, until he had no more tears to cry. Even then, he shook, eyes closed firmly as Rafael's scent faded from the home.
As long as this was what Rafael wanted. Even now, all Arien cared about was that Rafael was happy with his decisions. Arien knew he wouldn't be able to even try hunting tonight. Maybe he wouldn't at all, just lay here until all the stolen blood in his veins dies, and he with them.
Rafael decided he might as well try to sleep. It took awhile his body having adjusted to having Arien next to him. He was so confused, why did he feel in pain?
((Want to do a time skip? Either for the night or until things get a little bit better?))
(I'm thinking to a bit better? Arien's… He's gonna be curled up on the bed doing nothing for a while)
((Mkay :’) I really just wanna get back to them fixing this. So what exactly should we do do you think?))
(NUUUU!!!! Also, smol thing, maybe have Elliot come back over to Arien's place all happy, and then sees him wrecked over Rafeal and it maybe puts a seed of guilt in his heart?)
(YEE! That's what I was thinking!)
(YAY!!! I love stalking your stuff btw Swim…)
(saw, thank you!)
(Now, to our regularly scheduled drama-)
Arien had finally managed to get out of bed. It smelled complete like himself, any way, just like the rest of the house. He was sluggish, drained, and barely had the energy to move. Still, his friends had talked him into actually getting something to replenish himself. He stumbled to the kitchen. For emergencies like this, he had a regularly changed blood pack. He started to drink, sitting at the counter with a dead look like his eyes.
Elliot, on the other hand, was completely elated. His spell had worked perfectly, and Rafael absolutely hated Arien. Now, he could have the man all to himself again. He came to the house, not bothering to knock as he came inside.
"Arien!" He called out.
((Aw Arien nuu ;-;))
Rafael was in a similar state of disarray. He, of course, could not survive by himself. He was 90% certain his apartment was a total mess now. And he completely blamed Arien for it. If he hadn’t gotten used to the other taken care of him he would’ve been fine, or at least that’s what he told himself. What he did know for certain was every morning he woke up crying, with no memory as to why.
(Nuuuuuuu Rafael!!)
Arien looked up when Elliot came in.
"Are you happy?" For a moment, Elliot genuinely thought Arien had figured out what had happened.
"You were right. He just broke my heart…" Arien didn't even have the energy to get emotional about it any more. Elliot didn't like it. He didn't like it at all. He wanted to be the one to comfort Arien, to make him feel better. But this… It didn't look like any one could do that. Had he made a mistake..?
There was a banging on Rafael's door. At this time of night, it wasn't hard to figure out what kind of person it was, but who was a different matter.
Rafael had just been laying on his couch the entire day, his way of denying how useless he’d become. At the loud knocking on the door he sighed before asking “Who is it?”
"I've come to talk with you." Daine, of course. The one who had tried to eat him.
He sighed again. He’d been expecting this ever since he’d left. Not with Daine in particular, but just any of Arien’s friends. He stood up, opening the door. “What do you want?” He asked tiredly.
"I want to know why you did it." Daine was staying calm, and polite, not trying to push his way in. He just wanted to talk, he wanted to know just what kind of man Rafael was.
Then he might eat the man.
“I don’t know….” Rafael seemed completely exhausted. “I just don’t like him. And I needed to be independent again.” Which he clearly was not doing a great job of.
The demon glanced behind Rafael, raising an eyebrow.
"Really now…" He let out a breath. "And tell me, if you don't like him then why did you act the way you did at the coffee shop? Hell, you were absolutely elated to see Arien when he came to my home to stop Elliot from killing or cursing you, and even after what happened with your eyes you looked really attached to him. What changed?"
After all of that, Rafael thought a second before shrugging. He honestly didn’t know. He didn’t know what he was feeling back then. Or what had changed.
Daine pursed his lips.
"You can't just go from that to this, Rafael. Something obviously happened that changed you. What. Was. It?"
“I’m not sure..” he said quietly. “If you hate me for that I understand.” He sounded so defeated. He didn’t understand it either, he just hated Arien with a passion.
Daine tilted his head just a bit.
"Even if you do hate him," The demon said softly. "Does it bring you home to have hurt him so much?"
He nodded. “Hearing him cry I just felt…awful. Even though I hate him I just…” He frowned.
"So you have some semblance of humanity left, then." Daine seemed to spit the words out.
"Did you know he almost killed himself? He was completely prepared to just curl up on your old bed and die."
