that seems to be a pretty common belief. that others exist, but aren't yours to work with.

which god and goddess though? because all the research i've done has basically made it impossible for me to tell without specification. and also i'm a curious bitch. the horned god? hecate? are they simply general terms?

The Green Man/The Horned God and The Triple Goddess/The Lady are the two I believe in/work with.

@croccin-champagne

DIP, I think you have a lot of personal research to do.
I'm sure we'd all be willing to share any reliable resources we have.

lmao i just use google, gather as much info as possible, and make my own inferences/decisions

oh cool! aren't those generally the most common wiccan/pagan deities worshipped? like, i've seen their names around a lot

It's also possible to work with other being like I do with the Good Neighbors, but if you're a beginner, I don't recommend working with them. But the way I started out, was just setting out offerings, no asking for anything.

dhfhdgfdg definitely don't try out with them unless you're practiced lmao

haha yeah, unless you're prepared, don't.

@berlioz

Because the Good People come from Irish lore, I end up learning a lot about them. The more I learn about them the more I realize newer witches (including myself) reeeeallllyyyyy shouldn't approach them. Take it from a fellow baby witch.

@croccin-champagne

tricky little dudes. most i do is leave shiny things for them, and try to make sure there's a bird bath or some form of clean water outside for them. which is hard, because my dogs fucking drink it, but you know. that and leaving the blackberry bushes alone, especially in spring

Are the Good People similar to the fae? I haven't heard of them before

Deleted user

Yep
I tend to make things for them, wether that be honey cakes or a mug I'm working on.
For me, offerings for them have to either be shiny, homemade, or something sentimental

Yeah, they are! A lot of us, myself included, also believe they're the main two, if that makes sense.

The Good People are just another title, like Fair Folk, Good Neighbors, etc.

Gotcha!
Yeah, I agree that they're a little scary iadsjkfydhu

it does! i read somewhere that the pagans who work with them in part do so because of the balance, with a feminine and masculine deity, and i think the like nature/magic aspect. balance is very sexy when it comes to magic

The Good people, Fair folk, and Good Neighbors, the Fae, or their Irish name, Dionne na Sidhe are all the same thing. They hang out in the Irish Otherworld (not quite the same as the Underworld/after life). We call them good/fair to keep in nice relations with them.

I think my beliefs are weird because I worship the primordial deities in Greek mythology while also mainly working with Aphrodite and the Fae. I dunno, I'm tired as fuck rn

@Elder-God-Whisper work

Hoo boy…. gods are complicated. Personally, I don’t deal with them since I’m a Christian witch…

Wait… how does that even work???

I’m a Christian who practices hedge witchcraft, that’s how it works. (Apologies, I get salty because a lot of people try to bash Christian witches a lot…)

Deleted user

Also, a lot of Christianity is witchcraft… People just don't really understand that

@berlioz

Yeah, no dissing on Christian witches. I can imagine how much shit you deal with, Whisper. Witchcraft is not a religion, nor is it limited to certain religions. It's a practice. I could argue a few Bible characters practiced some traditions we might classify as witchcraft today.

@croccin-champagne

literally half of christian traditions were stolen from pagans, it's only fair for christians to then actually practice those traditions as they should be practiced

@berlioz

^^^
Holy water, holy symbols, annointing with oil, gold, frankincense, myrhh, prayer and meditation, prayer beads, the fact that the whole thing is based on this one guy's blood
Christianity is witchy. It gets even more witchy when you go back to the Jewish roots.

@Becfromthedead group

And then on the other hand, I'm an agnostic witch. Sort of. I'm still trying to find what practices I vibe with. But gods of any sort aren't my thing. I don't really specifically believe in any gods.

even beyond that, their holidays. all saints, christmas/yule and the traditions that come with it

and that's also cool! whether you believe more in the forces of nature/others, or simply just find the practices mesh. how do you view that? it's always super cool to see how people view their own worship/practices

paganism and witchery should always be inclusive and open to interpretation. that's what it's founded on. it's like the christian idea of love your neighbor and don't judge people for being different
