“Like the human personification of a sun or like you live on a star,” The barkeeper asked.
“Like the human personification of a sun or like you live on a star,” The barkeeper asked.
"The first one is closest to accurate." He replied."However, I'm not human."
“Not many of us are. Adri maybe. Hinata probably not. Vasilios is a demon. Calix is an angel. Lucas and Josiah are Phantoms. Nera is dragonkin. Tolkalee, we aren’t sure. Kai is a sorceress. S.K. Is a storykeeper.”
"And you? Are you human?"
Lucas and Josiah overheard the conversation. “There sure are a lot of species here” Lucas stated.
“Of course there are, this place is almost the equivalent of the center of all of them…” Josiah replied, drunkenly trying to get back up on his stool.
“Not human in the slightest.” She confirmed.
He smiled." You didn't seem human. I just wanted to confirm it."
“Yeah generally the flashing in and out of existence and the universe traveling does kinda give that impression.” She snapped her finger and sparks flashed. “The magic too.”
Hearing the welcoming tone, Zera seemed to beam even more brightly. It was the most emotion she had ever shown. Her violet eyes continued to shine, barely containing the tears she felt welling behind them. Only these tears weren't of pain, fear, confusion, but actual happiness. Acceptance! She felt accepted! It was what she really wanted…to not be judged, not be seen as a 'tool'.
The more draconic side of her was still hesitant, she could feel it, but currently her happiness was overlaying it. Her violet gaze landed on Tolkalee, some color returning to her pale cheeks.
"T-thank you…thank you so much! I promise I-I'll try my best to not hinder you in any way."
Zera meant her words. As long as he continued to show her such kindness, she would show him the same. The dragonkin would do everything in her power to pull her weight and do what she could to help him along the journey.
The barkeeper glanced at Josiah who was still struggling to stay on top of his barstool. “Uh…you okay there?”
Tolkalee felt happy by his accomplishment. He wanted to help Zera. With not only finding her father, but with trusting people again. That second one however would be very hard. Fixing broken trust was hard, and if not done right, it was more like trying to fix a broken pot with a sledge hammer. And he couldn't ever really fix broken trust. That was something people just had to learn to cope with, in their own way. All he could do was be there with them, showing them that people could be trusted, they just had to find the right ones to trust. He'd seen first hand what misplaced trust could do, and he never wanted people to misplace their trust in him. If he was going to tell people they could trust him, he had to make sure they really could.
He noticed when Zera had come out that a sad sort of aura had surrounded them. He wasn't going to pry into this girl's life, but even he could tell that she had been used. He vowed silently to never make her feel like he was using her. Feeling used was one of the worst things in the world, and he hated people who used others for their own pleasure.
"Would you like to stay here for a bit longer or would you like to head out?" he asked wanting to let her choose.
Josiah hiccuped and finally managed to get on his stool. “I’m fineeeeeee” he exclaimed.
Lucas, while still holding his glass, sighed as he glanced at him. “You’re gonna get punished when we’re back home I’m pretty sure…” he said to himself while referring to Josiah.
Hinata looked up.
"I'm the equivalent of a human from where I'm from, but there are several things that differ me from the definition of human in many worlds." She blew a ring of smoke into the air.
“Pretty much what I guessed.” She said to Hinata.
Lucas turned to the barkeep.
“Hey barkeeper, mind if I get something like…uh…Earth’s Tequila? And I think Josiah will just have water or something without alcohol…” he said as he saw Josiah giggling at himself.
"Of course." The barkeep poured their drinks and handed it to them. "Are you sure he doesn't need anything else? He doesn't look so good."
Lucas took a sip of the Tequila.
“After sometime he’ll stop giggling. By then, his brain will stop functioning and there’s no stopping it” he giggled slightly at it.
“Are you talking about meeeeeeee?!” Josiah rested his arm on Lucas and giggled like a little kid.
“So are you two here to celebrate your breaks?”
“I ammmmmmm” Josiah giggled while messing with Lucas’ hair.
“I’m not, I’m here to relieve some stress” Lucas answered.
Hinata was thinking. She remembered the Soul Labyrinth.
Calix looked at the bartender and ordered a water.
Lucas turned to Hinata. He noticed that she had a realization kind of expression.
“Did you remember something? Mind sharing it with us?” Lucas asked her.
S.K was flickering in and out of sight again, they grabbed another bottle of green liquid and took a swig. "Damn storygrams, not reliable at all."
Cassio sat back to listen to the other people talk. He leaned his head back a bit against the wall, resting again.
Hinata turned to look at Lucas.
"I think I remember you."
